Single-Acting Step Feeders

Simple, Dependable Log Separation for Moderate-Volume Lines

Our Single-Acting Step Feeder uses fixed and movable steps powered by hydraulic cylinders in a reciprocating motion. It’s ideal for mills that need reliable log feeding without added complexity.

Best for

Low-Moderate cycle rates where simplicity, low cost, compact layout, and low maintenance are priorities.

Key Benefits:

  • Low cost
  • Easy to maintain and integrate into existing systems
  • Field-proven in hundreds of installations

Specifications:

  • Log Length: 8’ to 24’
  • Log Diameter: Up to ~30”
  • Cycle Rate: ~15 CPM
  • Actuation: Hydraulic cylinders
  • Add-on: Tempo follower cylinder for precision control
  • Feed Type: Log Singulation

Applications:

Specialty mills, lathe lines

Double-Acting Step Feeders

Higher Throughput + Cost Effective

For high-volume applications or mills dealing with bark-heavy or crisscrossed log piles, our Double-Acting Step Feeder offers effective log singulation with a balanced electric drive. One set of box sections and one set of plate sections alternate as a single unit, driven by a torque tube and reducer for consistent performance.

How it works:

As one set rises, it delivers the log while the other clears the face—eliminating jams and keeping your line moving.

Key Benefits:

  • Handles difficult piles without log bridging
  • Budget friendly
  • Ideal for high-volume, automated environments

Specifications:

  • Log Length: 8’ to 24’
  • Log Diameter: 4” to 36”

Applications:

Feeding high-volume systems, heavy logs, and deep-piled, crisscrossed stems in environments requiring continuous uptime.

Self-Cleaning Step Feeders

Maximum Uptime. Minimal Maintenance.

Every Linden Self-Cleaning Double-Acting Step Feeder includes our self-cleaning design, but we also offer compact options tailored for automated lines with even higher debris loads or tighter footprints. These models are ideal for operations prioritizing clean cycles and low manual intervention.

How it works:

Two continuous sets of steps are connected by link arms to a torque tube, driven by a reducer and motor. As logs are lifted and fed forward, the uninterrupted face of each step scrapes debris off the feed path – eliminating buildup and preventing jams.

Key Benefits:

  • Reduced downtime from bark buildup
  • Fewer cleanouts between shifts
  • Long-term reliability for continuous-run operations

Specifications:

  • Log Length: 8’ to 24’
  • Log Diameter: 3” to 36”

Applications:

Ideal for high-throughput, high-debris environments like chip-n-saw lines, canter lines, and mills processing crooked or frozen logs. Recommended for facilities requiring maximum uptime and minimal manual intervention.
